StandICT.eu 2023 Open Calls: A Snapshot of Fellowships

StandICT.eu 2023 launched a total of 9 Open Calls between 2 November 2020 and 15 February 2023. Across these calls, 693 eligible applications were submitted, of which 333 applications were funded, amounting to €2.91 million (€2,912,255.56) in direct actual funding. The primary targeted topics among funded applications were Cybersecurity (56 funded fellowships), Artificial Intelligence (46 funded fellowships), Blockchain & DLT (35 funded fellowships), 5G & beyond (33 funded fellowships), and Smart Cities (15 funded fellowships).

Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation Macro-Areas

Funded proposals were categorized under the four macro-areas of the EC Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation:

  • Key Enablers and Security (213 proposals): Cybersecurity, 5G, and Artificial Intelligence received the largest share of funding.
  • Sustainable Growth (52 proposals): Standardisation support targeted smart cities, smart grids, and intelligent transport systems.
  • Innovation for the Digital Single Market (DSM) (47 proposals): Led by Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (35 proposals).
  • Societal Challenges (21 proposals): Addressing e-Health, healthy living, and ageing population challenges.
