- ISO 23042 - Decentralised identity management
Electronic identification and trust services (including e-signature)
Europe is developing its decentralized identity system (European Digital Identity Wallet - EUDIW). Many companies and citizens in Europe will adopt EUDIW; therefore, a standard that supports interoperability will facilitate the use of credentials, stored in the wallet, outside of Europe.

- ISO 23042 - Decentralized identity management
Electronic identification and trust services (including e-signature)
This new standard allows an EU citizen/company to use the credentials stored in their wallets in other non-EU contexts. As an example, a student/professional that has a degree from an EU university could, once the corresponding credential has been provided to a non-EU prospective employer, be sure that there is a way for such employer to check about the validity of the credential in an automatic way.
