- Coordinating Harmonised Accessibility Standards under the European Accessibility Act
Harmonised European Accessibility Act (EAA) standards are intended to support consistent implementation of accessibility requirements, improve interoperability and reduce fragmentation across national markets.
Societally, the EAA standardisation work is likely to contribute to more inclusive digital and physical environments. Clearer, more consistent requirements are likely to reduce barriers to participation in education, employment, public services and economic life, and put accessibility among the product/service features that are simply expect as part of the regular delivery.
Economically, common European standards may reduce uncertainty, duplication and compliance costs for businesses operating across Member States. Clear technical specifications and test methods can benefit SMEs because they ease integration of accessibility into product development, procurement and quality assurance from an early stage.
Technologically, standardisation should improve interoperability between ICT products and services, including assistive technologies.

My fellowship targets the revision of the EN 301 549 by ETSI TC HF under the ETSI/CEN/CLC JTB eAcc (eAccessibility) and the drafting of prEN 18339 and prEN 18340 under CEN/CENELEC/JTC 12 WG2 and WG1, respectively.
I am a contributing expert member in three working groups:
- CEN/CENELEC/ETSI/JWG eAcc eAccessibility
- CEN/CENELEC/JTC 12 WG1 and WG2
- ETSI TC HF
